Thayer Abode is a brand-new modern house: five bedrooms, six and a half bathrooms, sleeping ten. Floating stair, walls of glass onto the garden, and a kitchen built around a single long stone island.

There is a pool and a spa, and a roof deck — which in this part of the city is the room people actually end up in. Sun in the afternoon, the whole group up there in the evening.

West Los Angeles is the quiet, practical side of town: close to the Westside, close to the beach run, and far enough from the hills that nobody is driving a canyon at midnight.
