# A Month in Los Angeles: Which Villas Actually Work for a 30-Night Stay

![Month-long villa rentals in Los Angeles — Alora Reserve](https://www.alorareserve.com/hubfs/alora-reserve/19378-lemmer-dr-tarzana/19378-Lemmer-Dr-5.jpg)

A weekend forgives almost anything. A month forgives nothing. The kitchen you never cooked in becomes the kitchen you cook in twice a day. The dining table you ate at once becomes the desk you sit at every morning. The house that looked spectacular in eleven photographs becomes the place you do laundry on a Tuesday.

We take a steady run of thirty-night-plus bookings — productions, relocations, renovations, awards season stretched into something longer, and people who simply decided to spend a winter in Los Angeles. Our enquiry form carries "Long stay, one month plus" as an option for exactly that reason. What follows is the honest sort of each house on the register: which ones are set up to be lived in, which ones take a month but were built for a weekend, and which ones do not carry the line at all.

## Start with the line on the page, not the photographs

Every house we hold publishes an essential-information panel, and one row of it is "Long stays". Read it before you fall in love with a rooftop. Most of the register says Accepted. A handful say something more specific, and the specific ones tell you more.

[Ellison Ridgehouse](https://www.alorareserve.com/houses/ellison-ridgehouse) in the Beverly Hills hills says "Accepted, 28 nights or more" — a minimum rather than an invitation, which is a useful thing to know before you propose three weeks. [Presson Bluff](https://www.alorareserve.com/houses/presson-bluff) above the Sunset Strip says "Accepted and encouraged". [Roscomare Glasshouse](https://www.alorareserve.com/houses/roscomare-glasshouse) in Bel Air says "Accepted — well suited to them". Those three phrasings are not interchangeable, and we did not write them to sound nice.

## The smallest house on the register is the one built for this

Presson Bluff is two bedrooms, two bathrooms, sleeping four, above the Strip. It is the smallest hillside house we hold, and for a long stay that is a feature rather than a compromise. It carries a real workspace, a full kitchen, a washer and dryer, and a layout that works for a month instead of a long weekend. Sunset Plaza sits minutes below, so dinner is a short drive rather than a canyon run.

Be clear-eyed about what it is not. There is no pool, no theatre and no lawn. If you are in Los Angeles for a production or a project and the house is somewhere to sleep, work and cook between twelve-hour days, none of that matters and the rate makes the case on its own.

## The case for a lift, a lobby and nobody to let in

Roscomare Glasshouse is a roughly 5,000 sq ft penthouse in the Bel Air hills — the entire top floor, four bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms, sleeping eight, behind floor-to-ceiling glass with canyon, mountain and ocean views at once. Over thirty nights, the things that make it unusual are the unglamorous ones: 24-hour controlled access, a secure lobby, a private parking garage, lift access and a building maintained around you. No gate codes to explain to a cleaner. Nothing to lock down when everyone goes out for the evening.

Two honest caveats. The resort-style pool, the fitness centre, the resident lounge and the viewing deck are *building* amenities, shared with other residents — excellent, hotel-standard, and not yours alone. And events are not permitted, because it is a residential building. If your month includes anything resembling a party, this is the wrong address and we will say so on the call.

## Houses with a second kitchen and a second front door

A month changes the arithmetic of togetherness. Two families who are delightful company for five days need somewhere to not be delightful on day nineteen.

[Gaviota Pavilion](https://www.alorareserve.com/houses/gaviota-pavilion) in Encino is the clean answer: a gated estate sleeping twelve across six bedrooms and seven bathrooms, with a detached back house that has its own kitchen on the same grounds. In-laws, a nanny, an assistant, or the couple who keep different hours — all solved without a second lease. There is a home theatre and an upstairs bonus room that becomes an office or a yoga room by the second week, and Ventura Boulevard's grocery stores are minutes away, which matters enormously once you are shopping rather than ordering in.

[Lemmer Grange](https://www.alorareserve.com/houses/lemmer-grange) in Tarzana is the same idea at scale: 14,479 sq ft, six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, sleeping twelve, with golf course views. Its indoor swimming pool and spa is the feature that earns its keep on a long booking — water that does not depend on the weather or the hour, and the only indoor pool on the register. There is also a private theatre, a gym, a half-court basketball court and an outdoor kitchen.

## Where you can work without colonising the dining table

Nearly every house on the register lists a dedicated workspace, and the word "dedicated" is doing real work there. [Thames Canyon House](https://www.alorareserve.com/houses/thames-canyon-house), in a gated community above Laurel Canyon, is one of the easiest houses we hold to live in for a month — gated approach, dedicated workspace, laundry, a full kitchen with an island, and a billiards room separated enough from the living room that two groups can do different things at once. The honest note: it sits on a private hillside street reached by a narrow roadway. Normal for the area, but worth knowing if you are arriving in a large vehicle or expecting van deliveries every week, which on a long stay you will be.

Ellison Ridgehouse answers the same question with a *private executive office* and staff quarters, on just over an acre at the head of a cul-de-sac where nobody passes the property. Its Miele kitchen runs an oversized centre island, two dishwashers, a wine refrigerator and an espresso machine — a kitchen built for catering rather than reheating. Two separate primary suites, which settles the awkward conversation when two couples travel together.

[Bellagio Cortile](https://www.alorareserve.com/houses/bellagio-cortile) in Bel Air adds the thing long stays quietly need most: six cars inside the gates with an EV charger, plus a gym, a sauna and a piano across 8,161 sq ft. Five bedrooms, eight bathrooms, sleeping ten. On a month-long booking where people come and go on different schedules, parking inside the gates removes a daily irritation.

## If you want to walk rather than drive for thirty days

[Sierra Bonita Solarium](https://www.alorareserve.com/houses/sierra-bonita-solarium) in Fairfax is flat, central and genuinely walkable — Melrose a short walk, The Grove and the Original Farmers Market minutes away. Four bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms sleeping eight, effectively a bathroom per bedroom, with a rooftop terrace answering the view problem central houses normally have. Over a month, stepping out for coffee beats booking a car for every outing.

[Electra Overlook](https://www.alorareserve.com/houses/electra-overlook) on Mt. Olympus is the opposite trade and a good one for families: 0.66 acres with roughly 4,000 sq ft of house on it, a flat, enclosed backyard that is genuinely rare up there, a pool with a waterfall spa, and Melrose two minutes away. Four bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, sleeping eight — note the half, because eight people and 3.5 bathrooms is a different morning than eight people and four.

At the top of the scale, [Summitridge Heights](https://www.alorareserve.com/houses/summitridge-heights) above Beverly Hills accepts long stays and is the easiest big house to live in that we hold: six bedrooms, nine bathrooms, an elevator, a dedicated workspace, a gym, a thirteen-seat theatre, a sauna, and a walk-in refrigerator that earns its place the moment you are catering rather than ordering in. Parking is free on the premises and on the street, which sounds trivial until it is your thirtieth delivery.

## What a month does to the rate

Rates are on request across the register, and we do not publish nightly numbers, because a house prices by season, length of stay, headcount and staffing. What is true in every case is that thirty nights is a different conversation from three. On Presson Bluff the page says it plainly: the rate improves considerably on bookings of a month or more. Send the dates and you will have the real figure the same day, usually within two hours.

## The houses that do not carry the line

This is the part most agencies leave out. Several houses we hold do not list long stays in their essential information — among them [Bel Air Peristyle](https://www.alorareserve.com/houses/bel-air-peristyle), [Sunset Colonnade](https://www.alorareserve.com/houses/sunset-colonnade), [Broad Beach Dunehouse](https://www.alorareserve.com/houses/broad-beach-dunehouse), [Mulholland Ridge](https://www.alorareserve.com/houses/mulholland-ridge), [Croft Altana](https://www.alorareserve.com/houses/croft-altana), [Curson Atelier](https://www.alorareserve.com/houses/curson-atelier) and [Gardner Piazzetta](https://www.alorareserve.com/houses/gardner-piazzetta). That is not a refusal; it means the owner has not put a standing yes on the sheet, and a month has to be asked for rather than assumed. Ask on the call and we will get you an answer rather than a maybe.

One more, because it comes up: [Grimes Olive House](https://www.alorareserve.com/houses/grimes-olive-house) in Encino accepts long stays, sleeps fourteen across seven bedrooms with an en-suite bathroom in every one of them, and has a four-car garage. It has a pool table. It does not have a swimming pool. Over thirty nights in Los Angeles that is a real consideration, and we would rather you heard it here.

## What to tell us

Four things, and we can shortlist in one call: your dates, your headcount, whether anyone is working from the house, and whether you need a second self-contained space. Add pets, because most of the register allows them and a few do not, and cleaning frequency, because on a month-long stay it stops being optional.

Every house on the register has been walked by one of us before it joined — we can tell you which bedroom gets the morning sun and which one sits over the garage. Chefs, cars, provisioning and cleaning during the stay are arranged through a named concierge on a direct line from enquiry to departure, and your deposit is reconciled in writing within five business days.

[Send us your dates and we will match the house to the month you are actually having](https://www.alorareserve.com/contact) — or call (323) 431-7539, staffed 7am to 11pm Pacific, seven days.
